Floatelier (“Floatelier”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) operates the Site and sells magnetic-levitation décor, lighting, accessories, and related products. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, retain, and protect personal information when you visit the Site, create an account, make a purchase, contact us, or otherwise interact with us.

This policy does not limit rights that you may have under applicable privacy or consumer-protection law.

1. Personal information we collect

The types of personal information we collect depend on how you interact with Floatelier.

A. Information you provide directly

When you place an order, create an account, subscribe to marketing, submit a support request, enter a promotion, or otherwise contact us, we may collect:

  • identity and contact information, such as your name, email address, phone number, billing address, and shipping address;
  • order and transaction information, such as items purchased, order number, delivery details, returns, exchanges, and communications relating to your order;
  • account information, such as login credentials and account preferences, where accounts are available;
  • customer-support information, such as the contents of your messages and photos, videos, or other files you send to diagnose a product issue or process a return or warranty claim;
  • marketing preferences, including subscription and unsubscribe choices; and
  • other information you choose to provide.

B. Payment information

When you pay through the Site, payment-card, wallet, or other payment information is collected and processed by our payment provider(s), such as Shopify Payments, PayPal, Shop Pay, Stripe, or another provider enabled at checkout. We generally receive limited payment-related information, such as payment status, payment method type, and transaction identifiers; we do not intentionally store full payment-card numbers on our own systems.

Your payment provider processes payment information under its own privacy notice and terms. Please review the privacy notice shown at checkout for the provider used for your transaction.

C. Information collected automatically

When you visit or use the Site, we and our service providers may automatically collect:

  • device and technical information, including IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, language, approximate location inferred from IP address, and time zone;
  • usage information, including pages, products, links, search terms, referring or exit pages, interactions, dates and times of visits, and how you use Site features;
  • cookie and similar-technology identifiers, such as cookie IDs, advertising IDs, and pixel/tag data; and
  • diagnostic and security information, such as log files, fraud signals, and error information.

D. Information from other sources

We may receive personal information from third parties, such as Shopify, payment providers, shipping carriers, fraud-prevention providers, analytics providers, advertising partners, social-media platforms, customer-service tools, and publicly available sources. This may include delivery status, payment-confirmation information, fraud-risk information, or advertising and analytics information.

2. How we use personal information

We may use personal information for the following purposes:

  • Operate the Site and fulfil orders: to process payments, confirm and ship orders, provide invoices, arrange delivery, process returns, exchanges, repairs, and warranty claims, and provide customer support.
  • Communicate with you: to send transactional messages, service notices, product-safety or recall communications, responses to questions, and updates about your order or account.
  • Marketing: to send promotional emails, SMS messages, or other marketing communications only where permitted by law and, where required, with your consent. You can opt out at any time using the unsubscribe link in an email, replying as instructed in a message, or contacting us.
  • Personalisation and advertising: to personalise Site content, measure advertising performance, build audiences, and show or limit advertising that may be relevant to you, subject to your choices and applicable law.
  • Security and fraud prevention: to protect our customers, Site, business, and service providers; verify orders; detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, abuse, security incidents, and unlawful activity.
  • Improve our services: to analyse Site performance, understand customer needs, troubleshoot technical issues, improve products and customer experience, and develop new features.
  • Legal and business purposes: to comply with legal obligations, enforce our terms, establish, exercise, or defend legal claims, complete a corporate transaction, and maintain required records.

3. Legal bases for EEA/UK processing

  • Contract: where processing is necessary to take steps at your request or to perform our contract with you, such as processing payment and fulfilling your order.
  • Legitimate interests: where necessary for our legitimate interests or those of a third party, provided these interests are not overridden by your rights. These interests include operating and improving our business, securing our Site, preventing fraud, responding to enquiries, and measuring the performance of our marketing.

  • Fulfilment, shipping, and logistics providers: warehouses, manufacturers, shipping carriers, customs brokers, and delivery partners that fulfil and deliver orders.
  • Service providers: companies that provide customer service, email/SMS delivery, fraud prevention, security, analytics, consent management, IT support, accounting, and professional services.
  • Advertising and social-media partners: only where configured or enabled on the Site, such as Google and Meta, to measure campaigns and deliver or limit advertising according to your choices.
  • Business and legal recipients: advisers, insurers, regulators, law-enforcement bodies, courts, and other parties when required by law or reasonably necessary to protect rights, safety, property, or legal claims.
  • Corporate-transaction recipients: a buyer, investor, successor, or other relevant party in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganisation, sale of assets, bankruptcy, or similar transaction, subject to applicable law.

We do not sell personal information for money. However, certain analytics and advertising disclosures may be treated as a “sale,” “sharing,” or “targeted advertising” under some U.S. state privacy laws. Where required, we provide a mechanism to opt out of that activity.

We do not knowingly disclose personal information in exchange for money or knowingly sell or share the personal information of individuals under 16 years of age.

7. International data transfers

Floatelier and our service providers may process personal information in countries other than the country where you live, including countries that may have different data-protection laws.

For EEA/UK personal data transferred to countries not recognised as providing an adequate level of protection, we will use appropriate safeguards where required by law, such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses, the UK International Data Transfer Addendum, or another valid transfer mechanism.

8. Data retention

We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, including to fulfil orders, provide support, maintain business and financial records, comply with tax and legal obligations, prevent fraud, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements.

Retention periods depend on the type of information and the reason we collected it. For example, order and transaction records may be retained for the period required by applicable tax, accounting, consumer-protection, and legal requirements. Where we no longer need personal information, we will delete, anonymise, or securely aggregate it, unless we are legally required or permitted to retain it.

Depending on where you live and subject to applicable law, you may have the right to:

  • request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information;
  • request deletion of certain personal information;
  • request restriction of, or object to, certain processing;

We will not discriminate against you for exercising applicable privacy rights. Some rights are subject to legal exceptions and limitations. If we cannot fulfil a request, we will explain the reason where required by law.

EEA/UK complaints

If you are in the EEA or UK, you may also lodge a complaint with the data-protection authority in your country of residence, place of work, or the place of the alleged infringement. We encourage you to contact us first so that we can try to resolve your concern.

U.S. state privacy disclosures

If a U.S. state privacy law applies to us, residents of that state may have additional rights, such as rights to know, access, correct, delete, opt out of targeted advertising or certain data sharing, and appeal our decision regarding a privacy request. For California residents, where the California Consumer Privacy Act (“CCPA”) applies, the categories of personal information we may collect are described in Section 1, the business purposes are described in Section 2, and the categories of recipients are described in Section 4. We use and disclose sensitive personal information, if any, only as reasonably necessary to provide requested goods or services, ensure security and integrity, prevent fraud, comply with law, or for other purposes permitted by applicable law. 10. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organisational measures designed to protect personal information. No method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please use a strong, unique password for any account you create and contact us promptly if you believe your account or personal information has been compromised.

11. Children’s privacy

The Site is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at floatelierstore@outlook.com so that we can take appropriate action.

12. Third-party websites and services

The Site may contain links to third-party websites, applications, or services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties.
